The Regiment departed SFCA for Pearl Harbor in late NOV 1941 aboard the SS REPUBLIC. After a brief stop, they sailed west in a convoy escorted by the USS PENSACOLA. That convoy included the Belgian ship BLOEMFONTEIN which would carry them to Java in early 1942.
