[1] In a twist that I wasn’t expecting, I was reading a book about MAJ Greg “Pappy” BOYINGTON’s exploits in the South Pacific. A former Flying Tiger, he commanded a USMC Corsair Squadron but was shot down over Rabaul. He spent time as a POW in the Omori camp in Tokyo Bay where he names CDR MAHER as the senior officer.
